Job Description Job Description Position Summary Smart Start is seeking an experienced Business Development Representative and/or a professional who has spent years of their career in state/county government, law enforcement and/or related roles. The top priority will be developing new referral partner relationships with attorneys, court officials, judges, and probation professionals that drive end-users to utilize Smart Start Ignition Interlock and portable alcohol monitoring products (PAM) within a designated territory. Job Responsibilities Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current and prospective partners in an assigned territory to generate new sales of Smart Start products and services Continually expand product market share within an assigned territory Evaluate referral partner needs, while building productive, long-lasting relationships resulting in lead generation Provide technical expertise as it applies to both government officials and consultative selling with partners Obtain market intelligence to ensure Smart Start’s competitive agility and strategy in the marketplace Develop new sales strategies specific to the competitive approach and opportunity Educate partners on the full scope of product functionality, including reporting platforms Attend trade shows and state-level meetings relevant to the alcohol monitoring industry Maintain a high level of proficiency and knowledge in Smart Start products and monitoring platforms Be a territory expert on state regulations and rules about impaired driving, ignition interlock and alcohol monitoring Maintain and expand marketing and sales strategy for assigned territory Build upon existing State and County legislative, regulatory and monitoring authority relationships Core Competencies Strong leadership skills while maintaining the ability to be a high-quality team member Skilled in anticipating and solving complex business challenges Results-driven on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis Confident in one’s ability to make educated decisions in areas of ambiguity Self-Starter with a competitive nature and strong initiative to succeed Expert in sales communication arenas; Presentations, Trade Shows/Conferences, and In-Person, Powerful communicator: proficient in verbal and written correspondence and the use of tools such as email, texting Experienced in multi-level relationship building Excellent relationship, communication and organizational skills Highly Desired Experience related to Impaired Driving, Ignition Interlock and Alcohol Monitoring programs College Degree or equivalent experience Requirements Prior B2B Sales Experience or related fields in government Strong communication and relationship skills Competitive ability to work in a strong business development environment Abilities required 30-40% overnight Travel with some weekend travel (conferences, etc).
