Job Description

Job Title: Proximity Software Developer (Front Office Support) Location: London (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days/week in office) Contract Type: Inside IR35 About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Analyst / Software Developer to join our Global Markets Commodities (GMC) IT team in London. The successful candidate will support front-office operations by delivering tailored, scalable, and efficient software applications. You will work closely with trading, sales, and structuring teams , as well as middle and back-office stakeholders, providing high-impact development and support within a proximity IT development environment. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain user-focused software applications following proximity development lifecycle: Requirements gathering and analysis Solution design and architecture recommendations Application development, testing, and deployment Documentation, training, and ongoing support Continuous improvements and bug tracking Collaborate closely with Front Office teams to understand business requirements and deliver efficient technical solutions. Provide hands-on support for onboarding new products and pricing tools. Work in partnership with Quants, MOA, MOE, and other IT teams globally. Ensure compliance with Heathrow branch rules, regulatory standards, and internal governance. Participate in regular reviews and reporting with the Head of Proximity Development and other leads. Shift-based in-office presence (minimum 3 days/week, subject to business needs). Required Skills & Experience: Technical Skills: Strong background in software development with object-oriented programming Familiarity with common architectural patterns (e.g., n-tier, MVVM) Proficiency in at least one of the following: .NET platform, C# language WPF, Angular Frameworks such as Unity, Spring, Prism, Castle Experience integrating pricing libraries and pricing tools Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of financial markets and derivatives Expertise in options theory , including Greeks, volatility smiles, and exotic options Experience with interest rate markets (curve building, bootstrapping, IRS valuation) Commodities knowledge is a strong plus (e.g., oil, gas, power) Soft Skills: Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with trading teams Quick learner with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment Team player with excellent interpersonal and documentation skills Desirable Experience: Background in proximity development or front-office IT support roles Previous exposure to structured credit solutions or global market commodities Familiarity with compliance and risk protocols in banking/financial institutions Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Scrum, ITIL) are advantageous
