Principal Epitaxy Engineer – InP Photonics Onsite | Ipswich, UK A cutting-edge R&D facility is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the development of Indium Phosphide (InP) epitaxial growth processes for next-generation photonic devices used in telecom, data centers, and sensing technologies. This onsite role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation in compound semiconductor materials at the core of advanced photonics. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize InP epitaxial growth processes for photonic applications. Ensure high material quality and consistency through collaboration with wafer and device teams. Define and implement material characterization and process validation protocols. Support junior engineers and promote expertise in epitaxy and semiconductor processing. Lead R&D projects in line with strategic goals. Stay current with trends in epitaxy and compound semiconductor technology Requirements Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry , or related field. 12 years of experience in compound semiconductor epitaxy , especially InP. Expertise in MOCVD techniques and photonics device integration. Strong skills in data analysis , process control, and quality assurance.
