Freelance Electrical Engineer (ZZP) – New Build Vessel – Maritime Project – Zuid-Holland Location: Zuid-Holland, Netherlands Duration: 12 months (freelance ZZP contract) Sector: Maritime / Shipbuilding Scope: Full Electrical Engineering – New Vessel Construction We are seeking a freelance Electrical Engineer (ZZP) to join a team working on the complete electrical engineering of a new build vessel in Zuid-Holland . This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-profile maritime project from concept to commissioning. Your Role Take part in the full electrical design and integration for a new build ship Create and review electrical schematics, cable routing plans, load calculations , and system layouts Select components and coordinate with suppliers and classification societies Support the design process from specification to detailed engineering and commissioning Collaborate with naval architects, automation engineers, and the yard during construction Ensure compliance with maritime standards (e.g., DNV, Lloyd’s, ABS) Your Profile Strong experience as an Electrical Engineer in shipbuilding or offshore environments Proficiency in tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SEE Electrical Familiarity with maritime electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, fire detection, navigation, etc. Able to work independently and effectively in a project-based team Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus) Registered freelancer (ZZP) with right to work in the Netherlands Willing and able to work regularly on-site in Zuid-Holland Bonus Skills Knowledge of hybrid or electric propulsion systems Experience working on vessels for offshore, defense, or inland shipping Understanding of EMC, grounding, and safety regulations in maritime applications
