Head of Engineering

Job Title: Head of Engineering Location : Netherlands My client are looking for a head of engineering to help shape the future of their growing tech organisation in the Netherlands. This is a key leadership role where you’ll be driving team growth, scaling engineering practices, and leading our backend teams to new levels of performance and quality. Experience expectations: Lead, support, and grow a team of backend engineers (they currently have a engineering team of 35 developers) Partner with Product and Design to deliver impactful features that support our long-term vision. Introduce and refine engineering processes that enable autonomy, accountability, and speed at scale. Act as a mentor and coach to team leads and senior engineers, helping them grow in both people and technical leadership. Ensure high standards of software quality, availability, and performance across our backend systems. Requirement: Proven experience managing backend engineering teams in high growth environments. A strong track record of scaling teams and building healthy engineering cultures. Hands-on experience with modern backend architectures and cloud infrastructure (Experience with Java, Scala, Kotlin or Python is a plus) A pragmatic approach to software development balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability. Clear communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders.
