Temp Underwriter

Key Responsibilities: Assess and evaluate complex commercial insurance risks across multiple lines (e.g., property, liability, business interruption, etc.). Review and analyse new applications, renewals, and endorsements in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Price risks appropriately and prepare accurate quotations and policy documentation. Maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with underwriting authority and regulatory requirements. Provide mentorship or guidance to junior underwriters and contribute to continuous process improvement. Key Requirements: Minimum of 35 years' experience in commercial underwriting. Solid understanding of South African insurance legislation and commercial insurance products. Proven experience in underwriting large or complex risks. Exposure to underwriting software and systems (e.g., Cardinal or similar platforms). FAIS-compliant with relevant industry qualifications (e.g., NQF Level 4 or higher in Short-Term Insurance). Key Skills: Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities. High attention to detail and strong organisational capabilities. Customer-centric mindset with professional stakeholder engagement skills.
