Job Title: Analogue Electronics Engineer (with SMPS Knowledge) Location: Reading Employment Type: Permanent Industry: Electronics / Power Electronics / Engineering Salary: £40k to £50k Vacancy Overview: Our client is an innovative engineering firm at the forefront of developing cutting-edge electronic systems across a range of industries, including industrial, automotive, and medical. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Analogue Electronics Engineer with a solid foundation in analogue circuit design and some experience or interest in SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) development. Key Responsibilities: Design, simulate, and test analogue electronic circuits. Support the development and testing of SMPS circuits under the guidance of senior power electronics engineers. Conduct root cause analysis and circuit debugging during development and testing phases. Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to produce robust and manufacturable designs. Assist in creating and reviewing technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals. Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements: Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. Strong background in analogue electronics design (e.g. op-amps, filters, signal conditioning). Basic understanding of SMPS topologies such as buck, boost, and flyback converters. Familiarity with tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or similar for simulation. Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators). Good documentation and communication skills. Willingness to learn and grow in the area of power supply design. Desirable (but not essential): Hands-on experience building or testing SMPS prototypes. Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in analogue and power circuit design. Exposure to PCB design tools (e.g. Altium, Eagle, KiCad). Experience working within ISO or other regulated development environments.
