Lead an engineering team that partners with Linux engineers of a major silicon company, working across the full Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimise Ubuntu, the world's most widely used Linux desktop and server, for the latest silicon. This role is fast-paced and problem-solving oriented, requiring resourcefulness, articulation, and the ability to deliver solutions across PC and IoT technologies. Our teams collaborate with engineers from major silicon companies to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware. As a Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical, your role involves managing relationships with key technology partners by ensuring timely delivery on project milestones. Technical leadership and a background in software engineering are essential. You will lead, challenge, and develop engineers, influence culture positively, facilitate technical delivery, and contribute to strategy and execution. What you'll do Lead a distributed team to design and implement Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server hardware platforms and software stacks. Engage with partners to deliver an optimized, first-class Ubuntu experience on their platforms. Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback. Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery of project milestones. Maintain high standards of quality and reliability. Coordinate with other teams at Canonical for alignment on product architecture and roadmaps. Work from home with global travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks. Who you are Experienced with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server hardware. Skilled in working directly with customers, resolving technical issues, and understanding business challenges. Proven experience managing or leading software engineering teams. Familiar with agile development methodologies. Effective at collaborating across teams, building trust, and delivering results. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral. Holds a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology field.
