Senior Commodity Buyer

Nidec Conversion is seeking a COMMODITY SENIOR BUYER PCBA & SEMICONDUCTORS based in Milan. ROLE SUMMARY The Commodity Senior Buyer - PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) & Semiconductors will report to the Global Procurement Director of Nidec Conversion. The role involves coordinating procurement and supply chain activities related to PCBA and semiconductor components, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining high-quality standards. The Commodity Coordinator will collaborate closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes, manage inventory levels, and support new product development initiatives. DAILY TASKS AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Define and implement the global procurement strategy to achieve targets in cost reduction, On-Time Delivery (OTD), cash flow, and quality. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure business agreements. Implement and track progress of cost reduction initiatives. Lead commodity reviews and report business status to management. Analyze cost drivers and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities. Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions. Coordinate procurement for PCBA and semiconductor components to ensure timely delivery aligning with production schedules. Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address quality issues and non-conformances. Support supplier quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed. Work with engineering and product development teams to support new product introductions, providing input on component selection and availability during the design phase. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. At least 8 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the electronics or semiconductor industry. Knowledge of PCBA and semiconductor components and their supply chains. Proven experience in supplier management and contract negotiation.
