Bloomberg's Portfolio Analytics (PORT) team empowers some of the largest financial institutions in the world to understand their exposures, manage risk, and make high-impact investment decisions. Our flagship product on the Bloomberg Terminal is relied upon daily by asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, and mutual funds. At the heart of this platform is PORT Enterprise , a premium, highly customizable solution designed for our most sophisticated clients. It allows seamless integration of proprietary systems, enabling overnight processing and automated report generation across complex workflows. The Data Validation Services (DVS) team builds the infrastructure that keeps these workflows running smoothly. When issues arise in complex systems, DVS ensures that our enterprise clients receive proactive support through monitoring tools and backend integrations - often identifying and resolving issues before clients even notice them. The Opportunity Join us at an exciting inflection point - DVS is expanding coverage across more PORT Enterprise workflows, and you'll help define the architecture and long-term direction of a growing product line. You'll work closely with Product Managers to identify high-impact opportunities, design scalable solutions, and prioritize customer value. In this role, you will: Shape the technical roadmap of DVS as we grow our footprint in the PORT Enterprise ecosystem Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design integrations that are reliable, maintainable, and fast to market Build tools that directly empower support engineers and ensure a seamless client experience Contribute to a service architecture that prioritizes fault tolerance, monitoring, and graceful failure handling Tech Stack Our full-stack platform supports both internal support teams and end users: Front-end : React, Node.js, Bloomberg's TypeScript-based UI framework Back-end : Python-based orchestration and service infrastructure Data & Messaging : Kafka for distributed messaging; Bloomberg's proprietary SQL database for data storage and access Monitoring & Observability : Tools like Splunk, Grafana, and internal alerting systems for proactive issue detection and resolution Systems Architecture : Distributed systems, APIs, and batch processing pipelines that interface with PORT Enterprise workflows What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience 7 years of experience in software development or related technical fields Proficiency with modern front-end technologies, including React , Redux (or similar), TypeScript , and Node.js Solid experience working in full-stack environments (ideally Python React ) Understanding of distributed systems and experience navigating trade-offs in scalability, performance, and reliability A strong sense of software quality and maintainability, balanced with pragmatism and timely delivery Prior experience acting as a tech lead , including mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical direction Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Python in production environments, particularly in enterprise or financial systems A track record of designing scalable systems with proactive monitoring and alerting Passion for improving developer and customer experience, and an eye for identifying failure points before they affect users A strong sense of ownership and initiative - you proactively identify gaps, take responsibility for solutions, and follow through to resolution Why Join Us?
