Bookkeeper - Fruit Industry

Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions. Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and supplier payments. Reconcile bank, supplier, and customer accounts. Month-End and Year-End Procedures: Prepare and submit monthly reconciliations and reports. Assist with month-end journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. Support auditors and financial managers with year-end audits and financial statements. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with SARS, VAT submissions, and other statutory requirements. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for tax returns. Maintain asset registers and depreciation schedules. Payroll & HR Support (if applicable): Assist with payroll processing and employee benefit reconciliations. Maintain proper payroll records in line with labour regulations. Administrative Support: Provide financial support to farm, packhouse, and export teams as needed. Maintain proper filing systems for financial documents and contracts. Support the finance team in budgeting and cash flow forecasting. National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Bookkeeping certification (e.g., ICB, SAIPA, or similar) is an advantage. 3 years bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in agriculture, exports, or FMCG. Experience with perishable goods, farming operations, or export logistics is highly beneficial. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Pastel, QuickBooks). Strong Excel skills and understanding of reconciliations and financial principles. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and handle high-volume transactions during peak seasons.
