Bluebird has a direct hire position for a Custom Brokerage Manager in Buffalo, NY *Local Candidates or Candidates that are already moving to this area* - no relocation assistance provided Job Summary The Manager, Customs Brokerage, is responsible for overseeing a team of Supervisors to ensure operational excellence and exceptional service delivery across the brokerage function. This role acts as the escalation point for Supervisors, supports strategic business targets, and maintains strong relationships with branch leadership and internal departments. The Manager will lead efforts to ensure appropriate staffing levels, manage team performance, meet established KPIs, and support revenue generation and collections efforts. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership and Oversight Provide leadership and guidance to Supervisors, conducting weekly team meetings and one-on-one sessions with direct reports. Strategic Collaboration Meet regularly with branch General Managers and Operations Managers to align brokerage operations with branch objectives. Support business targets by engaging in strategic initiatives and collaborating with sales and leadership teams. Operational Management Work with Supervisors to ensure staffing levels are appropriate to meet current and future workload demands. Plan for team growth and succession to support business expansion and evolving needs. Assign accounts to teams, monitor workload capacity, and reallocate resources as necessary. Performance and KPI Management Monitor team performance against established KPIs, including accuracy, timeliness, and revenue generation. Collaborate with Finance to support collections efforts and ensure timely billing. Cross-Departmental Interaction Work closely with other departments, such as Compliance, Finance, and Transportation, to ensure brokerage standards are met. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between teams to address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement. Qualifications U.S. Customs Brokerage License preferred or willingness to obtain. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in customs brokerage, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, entry processes, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
