Metallurgical Engineer (Mossville)

Job Summary: Join the Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) Development Team at our client’s U.S. Technical Center in Mossville, IL. This contract position focuses on ferrous metallurgy and supports R&D efforts through metallurgical testing, data analysis, and lab coordination for projects involving heat treatment, alloy development, and casting . Job Responsibilities: Provide technical support for casting , heat treatment , and steel development projects. Coordinate internal trials with the heat treat development lab at the direction of senior engineers. Manage test sample and component submissions to the on-site Metallurgical Lab ; track testing progress. Analyze and compile metallurgical test results for review by Client engineers. Perform wear testing in the lab; maintain lab equipment, testing procedures, and consumable inventories. Required Skills: Working knowledge of heat treatment or foundry/manufacturing processes . Familiarity with metallurgical testing techniques (standard and advanced). Strong analytical, verbal and written communication , and problem-solving skills . Detail-oriented with a collaborative, team-first mindset. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 ; experience with: Image analysis software (e.g., ImageJ) – a plus. Simulation tools (e.g., JMatPro) – highly desirable. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering .
