Pay Information $1,159 per week About The Position Job Title: Patient Care Manager Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Psychiatric Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of psychiatric experience, prefer some medical experience License: Required for RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI preferred, willing to train if needed Must-Have Skills/Experience: Psychiatry with Med-Surg experience Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing preferred Description: This position requires managing a psychiatric unit with 45 beds divided into sections. Security is available in-house 24/7. On average, 15-45 patients are treated in the unit each day. The nurse-patient ratios are 1:6-12, depending on acuity. Typical staffing includes triage RNs, RNs designated to adults, and RNs designated to pediatrics/adolescents. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments; they coordinate the unit and assist staff as needed. Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) perform various duties, including phlebotomy and assisting physicians and nurses. Respiratory Therapy is available in the unit 24/7. RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips; however, they should identify major and life-threatening rhythm changes. X-ray and CT services are available for patient transport within the unit. PCTs are responsible for drawing labs, not RNs. The schedule will be adjusted according to the needs of the unit and staff requests. Every other weekend work is required, and there may be holiday rotation. There are no call or standby requirements for this position. You may be asked to float to inpatient units as needed. Scrub colors are royal blue. Unit-specific orientation will take place, including classroom and practical training on the unit.
