Job Description
Our client is one of the major general contractors in Europe with a turnover exceeding €1 billion. They are a leading player in turnkey projects, from design to construction, in the infrastructure and buildings sector. The company offers solutions ranging from financial planning and land evaluation to design and construction within the industrial, logistics, and data center sectors. To boost the Data Center Business Unit, we are seeking an experienced Projects Director who will report to the Technical Director. This role is responsible for the delivery of entrusted projects from pre-design through construction and for ensuring profitability in line with contractual agreements and company objectives. The Projects Director is a true team leader, maintaining customer relationships and managing a team of (Senior) Project Managers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES: Provides technical support to business development during prospecting activities. Meets with clients alongside the business development team to understand their needs and project specifics. Proposes technical and cost-effective solutions tailored to client needs. Prepares and optimizes building designs and technical solutions. Estimates design costs and prepares preliminary schedules. Prepares necessary documents for feasibility studies, including bills of quantities and ME. Defines offers and manages finalization and briefing with business development and design teams. Serves as the principal contact for clients and company representatives during project execution. Contract: Participates in contract approval alongside legal and finance teams. As contract director, approves all contract details. Prepares technical and administrative documents (bonds, insurance certificates, etc.). Construction: Builds and leads the project team, ensuring team members possess necessary skills. Guarantees project realization according to contractual agreements. Monitors work progress, customer relations, and schedule adjustments. Produces technical summaries of interventions across building trades. Cost and Schedule Management: Conducts financial analysis to ensure margins meet objectives. Participates in contract committees with management. Co-responsible for sale-purchase contracts, setting project costs and sales prices. Signs sale-purchase agreements with business development and design teams. Team Management: In coordination with senior management, manages project team members, including Project Assistants and (Senior) Project Managers. Qualifications: Master’s degree in civil engineering, urbanism, or related field. 5 to 10 years of experience in construction, preferably in private markets (TKP or EPCM contracts). Languages spoken: Italian and English. Location: Milan with hybrid work arrangements.
