Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY We are hiring a Senior Accountant to join the growing Finance Team at Iambic, a company redefining drug discovery and development by applying industry-leading technology. Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, preparing and maintaining account reconciliations, and supporting our month-end close process. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting, preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, and experience working for an international public accounting firm or for a public company. This role will work closely with the Finance Team as well as across multiple departments to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company’s accounting systems, processes, and internal controls. This position will be located in our San Diego Headquarters. RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and maintain accounting books and records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies. Conduct complex account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger, including foreign subsidiaries, and elimination entries. Support reconciliation of research and development accruals. Prepare comprehensive account analyses and reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts on a timely basis each month to assure the integrity of the accounting records. Support the implementation of financial systems and process improvements, focusing on aligning with public company standards and enhancing accounting controls and processes. Assist with annual audits by preparing audit schedules and financial statements, including financial statement notes and tie-outs, in close collaboration with external auditors. Support accounts payable operations and expense report processing, as needed. Assist in researching various technical accounting matters, providing accurate and comprehensive documentation of issues identified and resolution reached, as well as all related adjustments and supporting calculations. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments, as well as independently, while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a public company or public accounting role, showing a deep understanding of financial operations or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and/or CPA certification, with at least 2 years of similar experience mentioned above Ability to prioritize, coordinate and handle multiple projects to meet deadlines Self-motivated, ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment Exceptional organizational, problem solving, anticipatory and follow up skills Proficiency in industry-standard accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with NetSuite with knowledge of basic accounting system functionality highly desired.
