Position Summary
- At the direction of the Project Manager or the Electrical Engineering Manager, responsible for the hardware and software design, debug, and install of various custom automation systems
- Provide technical support to our customers including occasional service calls
- Needs little guidance and direction to complete tasks and projects
- Lead, support, mentor, and help develop others
Essential Functions:
- Write machine PLC and HMI programming to Acieta or customer specification.
- Perform peripheral device programming, including robots, vision, motion control.
- Perform machine debug and validation to ensure full functionality of the system.
- Take initiative to meet challenging project timelines and hour budgets.
- Provide clear communication with project management staff and supervisors on issues that may arise.
- Assist with the concept and help develop hardware requirements and design.
- Ability to travel on average 25% - 35% to customer site for installation and startup; domestic and international travel.
- Mentor and help direct Controls Engineer I and II.
- Other duties as may be assigned that are trained for and qualified to do.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent education and/or training in engineering required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree (BS) in related engineering field is preferred. Must have 10+ years with PLC, HMI, motion control, robot, or other automation. Must have experience working with mechanical systems operated by pneumatics, hydraulics, motor controllers.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawing, and fabrication specifications. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a focus on team collaboration.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Skilled in problem solving and troubleshooting.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record in order to be cover by Acieta’s automobile insurance.
- Must be at ease working with others of essentially equal or even greater technical expertise and experience of an effective manner.
- Must have the ability to plan and execute scheduled tasks and meet deadlines. Must have the willingness and ability to follow directions.
- Must have high attention to detail and quality.
- Must have general knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Must be skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Must provide your own hand tools and tool bag. Must have familiarity with quality control processes and safety protocols.
- Must be an excellent team player with organizational and time management skills. Ability to keep work area clean and organized.
