Mission The Director for the Regional Open Innovation Hub (OIH) is a key leadership role responsible for supporting the Global Strategy & Innovation team in the establishment and development of a new Open Innovation Hub. The Director will play a crucial role in aligning the hub with RINA's strategic vision, ensuring it meets its growth and financial objectives within the established timelines. The Director will operate within a dynamic innovation ecosystem designed to drive consolidation and growth across various business units. This individual will work closely with internal teams to define and refine the hub’s value proposition and lead the development of the necessary infrastructure and services. Externally, they will build and foster relationships with clients, partners, universities, and research institutions to integrate diverse competencies and resources into the ecosystem, enhancing the organization’s expertise and innovation capacity. Additionally, the Director will manage relationships with startup incubators, venture capital funds, and startups, ensuring synergy with the company’s Global Venture Capital and Partnership structures. Key Accountabilities Business Plan Development and Execution: - Lead the creation and continuous refinement of the Open Innovation Hub’s business plan, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s broader strategic objectives. - Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to tailor the hub’s offerings, ensuring a cohesive integration of innovation services. - Monitor the financial performance of the hub, tracking KPIs and adapting strategies to meet or exceed profitability targets. Value Proposition Design: - Work closely with business units to define the Open Innovation Hub’s unique value proposition, ensuring it addresses current market demands and integrates with the company’s existing portfolio of services. - Continuously update and innovate the hub’s service offerings, incorporating emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain relevance and competitiveness. Strategic and Operational Planning: - Oversee both long-term strategic planning and day-to-day operational management of the hub. - Set clear, measurable goals for the hub’s growth, service development, and financial performance, ensuring timely execution. - Allocate resources effectively across departments, ensuring the hub operates smoothly, efficiently, and in line with operational excellence standards. Team Leadership and Management: - Build and lead a high-performing team, ensuring the right mix of technical, operational, and innovation expertise. - Set performance goals for the team, facilitate professional development, and ensure alignment with the organization’s overall objectives. - Manage recruitment, talent retention, and team scaling as the hub grows in size and scope. Stakeholder and Partner Engagement: - Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders such as venture capitalists, incubators, startups, research institutions, and universities. - Develop and formalize strategic partnerships that enhance the hub’s innovation ecosystem, foster new business opportunities, and drive collaboration. - Represent the hub at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote its capabilities and expand its reach. Continuous Innovation and Technology Integration: - Stay ahead of technological advancements and ensure the hub is a center of cutting-edge innovation within the organization. - Identify and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and innovation processes that can enhance the hub’s offering. - Work with R&D, technical teams, and external partners to ensure the hub maintains a forward-thinking, experimental approach to service delivery. Real Estate and Infrastructure Development: - Collaborate with corporate real estate and facilities teams to ensure the hub’s physical infrastructure meets operational needs. - Oversee the development of state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring the space is conducive to innovation, collaboration, and client engagement. Financial Oversight: - Manage the hub’s budget, ensuring all activities are aligned with the financial goals and business plan. - Develop financial forecasts and analyze performance data to guide decision-making and ensure the hub remains on a growth trajectory. - Implement cost-saving measures without compromising innovation output or service quality. Ecosystem Management and Integration: - Foster an environment where startups, corporate clients, academic institutions, and research bodies collaborate seamlessly, exchanging knowledge and driving mutual growth. - Develop programs and initiatives that engage external innovators, such as incubator programs, startup competitions, and collaborative R&D projects. Education Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance Management, or Computer Engineering. Qualifications Proven experience in managing innovation ecosystems and P&L responsibilities. Strong strategic thinking with a vision focused on continuous innovation and growth. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate across multiple business units. Experience in business development, particularly in the context of emerging technologies and new market opportunities. Significant experience leading and managing teams within international and cross-cultural environments.
