The vision for the Allina Health Cancer Institute centers on value creation through coordination of the full continuum of oncology – from prevention/ detection through treatment and survivorship. The Institute is unique in the region and empowered to direct substantial investments in cancer facilities, clinical and research programs, and strategic partnerships. Importantly, the Institute oversees cancer care across the entire health system, ensuring that consistently exceptional outcomes are delivered in any setting where patients access cancer care. This model – tested and refined nationally at other large “hybrid” cancer programs –provides high-quality cancer care close to home. Allina Health Cancer Center (AHCI) in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a board certified/board eligible Hematologist to join its growing hematology program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. The successful candidate will build a clinical practice in Hematology, with focus on malignant hematology. They will provide inpatient and outpatient care of patients with hematologic malignancies and benign hematologic conditions. The hematology program consists of 2 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers and is the tertiary referral center for acute leukemia in the Allina network. Comprehensive cancer care is provided by a multidisciplinary team including nurse navigators, oncology social work, oncology pharmacy, genetic counseling, dietary and supportive therapies. There is excellent support from hematopathology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, radiology, blood bank, intensive care, and other specialist services. A group of 18 hematology-oncology physicians in the metro share call, with expected 1:6 Hematology-only call. Applicant is expected to participate in biweekly hematology tumor boards and teach Internal Medicine residents rotating on the hematology service. The ideal candidate will have interests or experience in the care of patients with acute leukemia, chronic leukemia, multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and myeloproliferative neoplasms.
