Job Description

Key Skills & Experience Required: Minimum 35 years' experience operating and setting up CNC mills (ideally HAAS). Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances. Strong understanding of tool paths, work offsets (G54G59), and tool life management. Ability to troubleshoot programming and setup errors. Experience with HAAS control interface and manual programming. Understanding of material characteristics and machining behavior. Basic PC skills and understanding of CNC file transfers and backup. Preferred (But Not Essential): Experience with 3D CAM software (e.g. Fusion 360, Mastercam). Ability to assist with jig and fixture design. Familiarity with tight-tolerance parts, aerospace, or mining components. Key Responsibilities: Set up tooling, workholding, and offsets on the HAAS VF-3 VMC. Program using G-code and HAAS control interface, with or without CAM support (Fusion 360 / Mastercam / SolidCAM, etc.). Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models to produce precision components. Select correct cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for various materials (mild steel, stainless, EN8, plastics, etc.). Conduct in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM if available. Maintain machine cleanliness and basic preventative maintenance. Communicate clearly with supervisors, designers, and quality control. Log production and inspection records as required.
