Job Title: Power BI Consultant ‍Job Type: Freelance Location: Brussels, Belgium Work regime: Hybrid Keywords: Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query/M, and data models Position overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Power BI Developer / BI Analyst with over 5 years of experience in designing and developing dashboards, data models, and reports in Power BI, and 5 years of strong SQL development experience, particularly in data warehousing or regulatory environments. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of European or Belgian banking regulations or demonstrate the ability to adapt to regulatory requirements quickly. What you'll do Design, develop, and maintain intuitive and insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI. Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and complex data models for data warehousing and regulatory reporting. Ensure efficient data processing using advanced DAX and Power Query/M techniques, including row-level security and incremental data refresh. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions. Implement source control and CI/CD pipelines using GIT and Azure DevOps for BI artifacts. Apply data warehousing concepts such as star/snowflake schema for building structured data models. Stay updated on relevant European/Belgian banking regulations (e.g., MiFID II, PST3, AML) and ensure BI solutions align with compliance standards. What you bring Power BI: 3 years hands-on experience with dashboards, DAX, Power Query/M, Row-Level Security, incremental refresh, deployment pipelines SQL Development: 5 years of experience with complex joins, window functions, query optimization, stored procedures, and job scheduling Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with MiFID II, PST3, AML or willingness to learn regulatory frameworks quickly Version Control: Experience with GIT and Azure DevOps CI/CD: Exposure to continuous integration and deployment practices for BI artifacts Data Modeling: Solid understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, including star and snowflake schemas Nice to Have: Experience with Wherescape Red/3D or other Data Warehouse automation tools Soft skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
