Job Description
Location: Sandton, Johannesburg Requirements: Minimum 10 years experience Expertise in quality of service (QoS), traffic shaping, and SIP trunking Understanding of network infrastructure, including IP routing, firewalls, and load balancers Experience with network tools for monitoring and troubleshooting (Wireshark etc.) Familiarity with SBC vendors such as Cisco, Oracle, AudioCodes, Ribbon Communications, or Acme Packet Knowledge of security protocols (TLS, SRTP, IPsec, etc.) Proficiency in VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, etc.) and SBC-specific technologies Responsibilities: Configuration and Deployment Install, configure, and deploy SBCs in VoIP and UC environments Ensure that the SBC is properly integrated with the existing network infrastructure, including SIP servers, gateways, firewalls, and other telecom equipment Apply necessary software patches, updates, and license management to keep the SBC secure and functional. Security Management Ensure secure communication by enabling encryption protocols such as TLS for signaling and SRTP for media streams. Configure firewall traversal mechanisms Implement security policies that protect against attacks like DoS and DDoS and ensure session integrity Implement access control policies to prevent unauthorized access to the network and its services Quality of Service (QoS) and Traffic Management Configure the SBC to manage and optimise traffic flows, ensuring that voice and video quality meet expected standards Implement load balancing across multiple servers or SBCs to prevent network congestion and maintain service reliability Ensure effective routing of calls across various networks (e.g., internal VoIP networks, external carriers, etc.), optimising for both quality and cost Troubleshooting and Support Diagnose and resolve issues related to call failures, quality degradation (jitter, packet loss, latency), and connectivity problems Utilise SBC logging and monitoring tools to trace and analyse call signaling and media flows, identifying bottlenecks or security threats Continuously monitor SBC performance, ensuring that thresholds for critical parameters (like CPU, memory, and traffic load) are not exceeded Interoperability Testing: Ensure that the SBC interoperates correctly with various equipment from different vendors, such as SIP servers, gateways, and PBXs Test and validate support for various protocols and codecs (SIP, H.323, WebRTC, etc.), ensuring compatibility and optimal performance Documentation and Compliance: -Maintain accurate records of SBC configurations, network topology, troubleshooting steps, and changes made to the system Ensure that SBC configurations adhere to industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with network and firewall engineers, system administrators, and telecom teams to ensure the SBC is aligned with the overall network design How to apply:
