Job Description
Manager, Indirect Purchasing - Americas This position will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing all indirect spend across manufacturing sites across North America. This role ensures cost efficiency, supplier performance, and compliance with company policies while driving strategic initiatives to improve indirect procurement processes. This role will have the site-specific indirect buyers reporting directly to them and will report up to the Director of Indirect Procurement for the Americas region. This is a new transformational role where experience driving change management and working to implement buying efficiencies will be critical to its success. This role will work closely with procurement category management teams to ensure effective integration and collaboration into strategic category spend plans to support compliance with strategies as well as support in value creation as determined. Responsibilities Establishing, leading, and supporting cross functional category teams to develop and maintain Category Strategies within their assigned regional Indirect categories. Is responsible for long term planning, strategy development, and support continuous improvement of assigned spend categories. Develops and implements sourcing, negotiating and contracting strategies to achieve the desired outcomes aligned with the Category Strategy for global indirect procurement categories. Directs cross-functional teams using analysis of historical spend data, market research and cost modeling to identify and leverage high value opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable value, operational efficiencies, and risk mitigation to the business. Establishes total landed cost model and/or Total Cost of Ownership Model for the category, in alignment with stakeholders. Demonstrates improvement in cost, cash flow, quality and risk related to assigned categories of Indirect spend Supports dotted line / matrixed global Indirect Procurement associates when collaboration is required. Provides leadership to key stakeholders throughout the company and builds relationships that facilitate the realization of delivering strategic and financial value. Manages the preferred supplier program with a “plan for every partner” to ensure business continuity, performance and best price. The Indirect Americas Category Manager will manage their assigned Indirect Categories as an owner. This will involve working closely with value stream partners to improve performance and cost. Done well, this work will reduce the friction felt by customers and make Vertiv “easier to do business with”. Lead lean, cost savings and continuous improvement projects related to shipping, warehousing, space optimization, materials handling and product storage Education and Certification BS/BA in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Business, Engineering, or related area. Prefer a minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain/operations. CPSM, CLTD, CSCP, PMP, or equivalent certification(s) preferred Requirements Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to build relationships at all levels. Organized and proven thought leadership skills 5-15 years experience Ability to travel up to 10%
