About the job We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fixed Income Settlements to join our team. This role will involve managing the timely and accurate settlement of fixed income securities, including bonds, treasury bills, and other debt instruments. This role involves interacting directly with clients & exchanges (self-clearing member). You will be responsible for ensuring that all settlements are processed within regulatory and market guidelines, mitigating risks, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Expertise in Core Fixed Income Market Operations Settlements– covering aspects of – Confirmations , Settlements , Fails Handling & communication with exchange / clients. Experience in US markets and having exposure with clients and acting as self-clearing members ( direct clearing) is preferred. Settlement Processing: Ensure the timely and accurate settlement of fixed income transactions (e.g., bond trades, treasury bills, repurchase agreements) in the relevant markets (e.g., T2, T1). Ensure settlements fails are timely resolved or escalated. Reconciliation: Reconcile trade data with counterparties and custodians, ensuring that any discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly. Trade Confirmation & Allocation: Confirm and allocate fixed income trades with counterparties and ensure that all settlement instructions are received and executed on time. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain proper records and documentation for all fixed income settlements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate settlement-related risks, ensuring smooth and efficient trade execution while adhering to all market guidelines and deadlines. Communication: Act as the point of contact for internal teams (trading desks, risk management, finance) and external parties (brokers, custodians, counterparties) to resolve any settlement-related issues. Process Improvement: Collaborate with internal teams to streamline settlement processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce errors. Reporting: Generate reports on settlement activity, unresolved issues, and market exceptions for senior management and stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications: Education: bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of [5] years of experience in a settlement role within fixed income markets. Familiarity with financial instruments such as bonds, government securities, repo, and money market instruments. Proficiency in settlement systems (e.g., FEDWire , DTCC, Euroclear, Clearstream,) and trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, proprietary systems). Strong Excel skills; experience with data analysis and reconciliation processes. In-depth understanding of the settlement lifecycle for fixed income products. Awareness of market conventions, operational risk management, and settlement failures. Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies and errors in transaction records, and ensure they are promptly addressed. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to resolve discrepancies and troubleshoot issues Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
