Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer TERM- Permanent LOCATION – Berkshire SALARY- £50,000 - £65,000, dependent on experience My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for process industries. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong leadership skills to join their team in Berkshire on a permanent basis. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Design / Mechanical Engineering position Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar Strong leaderships skills and an interest in management Knowledge of heat / thermal processes would be beneficial Ideally have some experience in a process industry, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, HVAC or similar Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc. Excellent practical skills – hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing, prototyping Knowledge of a variety of materials – sheet metal, injection moulded plastics etc. Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Proficient using MS Office Excellent organisational skills and time management skills Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: Working in a small team with 1 direct report Using CAD (Inventor) for concept design and producing technical drawings Providing technical guidance and support Being responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production Creating models/prototypes Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs Liaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects Maintaining technical drawings and documentation Providing technical guidance and support Supporting product Testing, Verification & Validation If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
