Network Engineer

WAN Architect – Secure Defence & National Security Location : Basingstoke (Onsite – 5 Days Per Week) Job Type : Permanent Salary : Up to £60,000 (Plus Benefits Package) We are partnering with a leading global technology provider, driving innovation and sustainability across mission-critical sectors. As part of their growing team in the Defence and National Security space, this opportunity offers the chance to design and deliver advanced WAN solutions that directly contribute to national resilience. In this role, you will operate as a Site WAN Architect, delivering secure and scalable network architectures for medium to large-scale transformation programmes. Working collaboratively with delivery and customer teams, you’ll apply your technical expertise to solve complex networking challenges, ensuring cost-effective and future-ready connectivity solutions. Roles & Responsibilities: • Lead the design and delivery of WAN network solutions for secure defence programmes • Produce design documentation and ensure all technical collateral meets governance standards • Collaborate with internal and client-side stakeholders to shape and refine architectures • Apply your knowledge of networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper • Support end-to-end delivery lifecycle from requirements gathering through to operational acceptance • Provide input into commercial and delivery planning, identifying risks and dependencies Key Requirements • Experience in designing and delivering network architectures for complex, secure environments • Strong knowledge across technologies including LAN, WAN, WiFi, VPN, Voice, and Cyber Security • Demonstrable experience working with Cisco and/or Juniper technologies • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA-Design, or JNCIA-Junos • Familiarity with project lifecycle and solution governance processes • Ability to work effectively under pressure, making critical decisions when required • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills • Must be eligible and willing to undergo high-level UK Security Clearance Benefits Package • Competitive salary with opportunities for progression • Flexible working with regular on-site collaboration • Opportunities to work on high-impact, nationally significant defence programmes • Supportive team culture with strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement Looking to apply your network expertise in a meaningful, secure environment where your work matters?
