Lead Planning Engineer

Title: Lead Planning Engineer Location : Portsmouth (Hybrid) Salary: £80-£110,000 package An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Lead Planning Engineer to spearhead planning operations on a major heavy civils scheme based in Portsmouth. The Senior Planning Engineer will join a consultancy renowned for delivering innovative solutions across some of the UK’s most complex construction, infrastructure and engineering projects. As Lead Planning Engineer, you’ll be the go-to planning authority on site, driving programme performance and supporting the project leadership team through every stage of this multi-million-pound scheme. Working closely with clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the project’s success. Duties Lead the development, management, and reporting of fully integrated project programmes using Primavera P6 Work proactively with clients and internal teams to capture and challenge project requirements, sequences, and milestones Monitor progress, analyse trends, and propose mitigation strategies to keep the project on track Prepare and present clear, insightful planning reports and dashboards to senior stakeholders Provide expert advice on planning issues, contractual implications (NEC), and programme risk management Mentor and support junior planning staff within the team Candidate Proven experience as a Planning Engineer on complex construction programmes. Expert-level knowledge of Primavera P6 – essential. Strong NEC contract experience with the ability to provide sound contractual advice. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills. A solution-driven mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
