Senior Accountant

Manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, including oversight of debtor and creditor reconciliations and timely processing of payments and receipts. Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy between bank statements and general ledger records. Prepare and submit statutory returns, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations and deadlines. Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including the calculation and recording of monthly depreciation in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Prepare monthly trial balances, including thorough balance sheet reconciliations and incorporation of fixed asset register adjustments. Support inventory control processes, including participation in and reconciliation of monthly stock counts. Assist with year-end financial audits, including the preparation of audit working papers, responding to audit inquiries, and ensuring supporting documentation is available and accurate. Salary administration and payroll Assist in preparing for and supporting the annual B-BBEE audit, ensuring required financial data and reports are accurate and available. Provide ad hoc accounting support to the finance team, assisting with reconciliations, data analysis, and other finance-related tasks as needed. Perform foreign currency (forex) calculations and related accounting entries, ensuring accurate treatment of currency conversions and gains/losses. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow. Conduct variance analysis between actuals and budget/forecast; investigate and explain significant discrepancies. Assist in the preparation of management reports with financial insights to support decision-making. Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data and trend analysis. Assist with treasury management, including loan administration and interest calculations. Liaise with external auditors, bankers, tax advisors, and suppliers/customers on financial matters. Tertiary qualification in accounting is a minimum requirement 3- 5 years experience as an accountant Knowledge of working with forex will be beneficial
