Job Description
The Microelectronics and Sensors Group at the University of Bergamo invites applications for a PhD position focused on designing advanced integrated circuits and sensor systems for high-energy physics applications. The successful candidate will join our research team and contribute to international collaborations, including the development of next-generation pixel detectors for the LHCb Upgrade II (IGNITE project) and / or the CMS experiment at CERN (RD53 collaboration). Research activities will include designing and characterizing mixed-signal integrated circuits in advanced CMOS technologies (down to 28 nm), investigating radiation hardness, and developing 4D-tracking detectors, with some physics analysis activity also foreseen. This PhD position is part of the "Sustainable Technologies for Industrial and Construction Engineering" program, which spans three years. Requirements Applicants must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Electronic Engineering, or a related field by October 31, 2025. Experience in analog or digital circuit design is highly valued. Selection Process The selection will be based on an assessment of academic qualifications (CV and research project proposal) and an interview in English on July 4, 2025 (with a possible continuation on July 7, 2025).
