THE ROLE GENOMIC SCIENCE The Research Unit is coordinated by Dr. Francesco Nicassio, an expert in genomics and non-coding RNA biology. Our lab focuses on cancer genomics, development, and stem cells, particularly on the role of noncoding RNA transcripts. Our research integrates computational methodologies, emphasizing the reciprocal regulation of coding and non-coding RNAs. Unveiling the role of PUS7-mediated pseudouridylation in host protein interactions specific for the SARS-CoV-2 RNA genome - Mol Ther Nucleic Acids, 2023, doi.org/10.1016/j.omtn.2023.102052, PMID: 38028201 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Develop computational methods and analytical strategies to characterize non-coding RNA biology and RNA modifications in various biological contexts, including epigenetic regulation, gene expression control, microRNA biogenesis, and mechanisms of cancer progression and chemo-resistance. Coordinate and co-supervise junior lab members, participate in meetings, and disseminate research findings. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS PhD in a natural sciences discipline (Biology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Physics, or similar). Experience in genomics, bioinformatics, and scientific programming in R or Python. Strong data analysis skills and basic understanding of statistics. Ability to organize and report data effectively. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Teamwork skills and high motivation to learn. Experience with Nanopore sequencing. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Knowledge of RNA modifications biology. Experience with bioinformatics workflow tools like Nextflow or Snakemake. Good communication skills, problem-solving attitude, and creativity.
