Responsibilities Develop understanding of the Linux stack from kernel to application layer Design, build, and maintain solutions on cloud and local environments Implement distributed systems concepts like observability, identity, and tracing Work with Kubernetes and open-source machine learning applications Collaborate with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers Debug issues and engage with upstream and Ubuntu communities Innovate and collaborate on solutions Candidate Profile Experience with Python in professional or academic settings Strong academic record and relevant technical degree or equivalent experience Effective communication skills in English Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability Ability to travel twice a year for company events Preferred Skills Experience building automated machine learning solutions and data pipelines Hands-on with machine learning libraries and tools Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) Passion for software quality and open source contributions What We Offer Distributed work environment with biannual in-person team sprints Annual learning and development budget of USD 2,000 Regular compensation reviews and recognition rewards Comprehensive leave and family benefits Travel opportunities and company events About Canonical Canonical pioneers in open source, publishing Ubuntu, a key platform for AI, IoT, and cloud.
