Job Description
Based in Italy, the primary role of the County Medical Lead, Medical Affairs (MA), is to educate and develop academic key opinion leaders (KOLs) as champions, with the most current study findings (abstracts, publications, and evidence pipeline) supporting the clinical value of Guardant Health's products. Role Overview The Country Medical Lead will co-develop study and publication strategies with the MA Director South of Europe and the VP of MA International to generate clinical evidence that promotes positive guidelines, physician adoption, and supports payer coverage in both private and public sectors. This role reports to the Medical Affairs Director South of Europe. The position involves major contributions to abstract and publication creation, development of physician educational materials for focused events (such as grand rounds, scientific sessions, advisory boards, or CME lectures), and training of speakers/educators. Understanding the clinical needs of oncology healthcare professionals and cancer patients, the Lead will build a team focused on strategic partnerships with leading cancer centers across Italy and community oncology groups interested in routine care and trials. Effective translation and dissemination of research data, real-world evidence, and research findings through publications, presentations at meetings, and educational activities are essential. Additional Responsibilities Support strategic partnerships, evidence generation, and clinical pathway development per tumor type. Drive clinical utility projects and investigator-initiated studies for market access and data generation. Develop and review educational slides and support speaker programs. Prepare presentations and support scientific and advisory meetings. Draft study protocols and publication plans, including leading authorship. Lead and develop KOL champions at major centers and large oncology groups. Oversee investigator-initiated multicenter studies to expand indications. Collaborate with the country manager to align medical and commercial strategies. Support market access activities and develop necessary materials for payer adoption. Coordinate with global and European medical affairs teams and international trial managers. Identify key scientific conferences and plan the company's presence. Manage budget planning for medical activities in conjunction with global teams. Qualifications Terminal degree in a scientific field (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent). Experience in Oncology, with a minimum of 3-5 years healthcare experience in biotech, pharma, or diagnostics. Proven publication record and experience in building consensus in academic centers. Experience in study protocol design and clinical product introduction is highly desirable. Technical Skills Deep knowledge of biotechnology, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals, especially Oncology. At least 8 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Excellent communication skills in Italian and English, with the ability to travel extensively. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Additional Information Extensive travel is required, including international conferences. The role may involve some weekend work and physical ability to travel and work in various environments. The office can be home-based with necessary equipment.
