System Engineer

Role Title: Systems engineer Duration: contract to run until 28/11/2025 Location: London. Hybrid, 3 days onsite (Mon, Tues Thurs) Rate: up to £531.26 p/d Umbrella inside IR35 Role purpose / summary Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer who is proficient in scripting languages and has a comprehensive experience of Building Playbooks, Ansible, VMWare, and backup systems. The role is to automate the runbooks that have been produced as part of the tertiary vault programme so far. The client uses Ansible, Puppet, Jira, etc. to perform this for on-premises resources within a high-pressure environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining test environments, as well as ensuring robust backup solutions. Key Skills/ requirements Experience in a stand-up dynamic environments Be able to be able to present well in a client facing role Be able to attend and deliver in frequent team stand-up sessions which are quite high pressure environments Confident communicating to the business. Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for automating configuration management and deployment processes. Build and manage test environments to ensure thorough testing of software applications. Script using languages such as Perl, Python, or similar to automate tasks and integrate systems. Understand and implement backup strategies to safeguard data and ensure business continuity. Administer VMWare environments, leveraging programmatic control for efficiency and scalability. Collaborate with development teams to optimize tool usage and improve development workflows. Must-Have Qualifications: Need to have an understanding of VMware, databases, Linux and Windows admin tasks. Any backup and/or networking experience would be a bonus. Enterprise level experience. infrastructure Experience Ansible and Puppet automation experience is a requirement Automation skills Terraform experience Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and architectural documents. All profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
