Job Description

Reporting to the VP, Payment Ecosystem Risk, thePayment Ecosystem Risk - Insights and Controlsteam is responsible for: robust execution of Ecosystem Risk programs focused on direct and indirect Visa clients ensuring the integrity and security of Visa’s payment ecosystem whilst supporting (new) business growth partnering with internal stakeholders in ensuring new Visa solutions are risk managed leading thought leadership and solutions in the risk and security space combatting payments fraud What a Director, Acquirer and Integrity Risk does at Visa As a key contributor of the Payment Ecosystem Risk team, the Director, Acquirer and Integrity Risk will report to the AP Head ofPayment Ecosystem Risk - Insights and Controlsteam and is the lead subject matter expert on all matters related to acquiring risk standards and controls. They will oversee and execute Visa risk programs, such as: Visa Integrity Risk program (VIRP), a framework and set of requirements to deter, detect, and remediate illegal activity from the Visa Payment System, and to manage high-risk acquiring activities. Visa Acceptance Risk Standards (VARS) is a risk control framework designed to help safeguard Acquirers and the Visa payment system. The clients include Acquirers and Money Movement Entities, who use the Visa Payment Network (VisaNet). Visa Acquirer Risk program (VAMP) is a monitoring program to reduce fraud and enumeration attacks across the global payments ecosystem by helping acquirers improve their risk controls. Key objectives are: Lead underwriting and control assessment reviews for Acquirers, either directly on-site (VARS and VIRP) or oversee third-parties reviews for VARS. Implement VIRP policy to ensure Acquirers, Third-Party Agents (TPAs), and Merchants maintain proper controls to prevent illegal activities and advise on risk remediation. Advise clients and partners with Best Practices in risk management controls to manage fraud and dispute levels and minimize activities that adversely affect the Visa payment ecosystem participants. Represent Visa as a domain expert, engaging with clients, industry stakeholders, and regulators on program design and execution, as well as all aspects of acquiring risk management. Assess Ecosystem Risk program performance, partnering with Global program owners to enhance design, execution, or develop new risk initiatives to strengthen risk environment. Educate and empower stakeholders on Visa’s Ecosystem Risk Programs for comprehensive understanding and effective implementation, thereby scaling team knowledge and aligning with business goals. The Director, Acquirer and Integrity Risk will be crucial in enabling this by having both hands-on acquiring risk fraud knowledge and strategic depth to enable future proof programs and processes. Projects you will be a part of: As the Director, Acquirer and Integrity Risk for Visa Asia Pacific, you will be a key member of the Asia Pacific Risk Team ensuring robust execution of the acquiring risk programs to safeguard the security and integrity of the Visa payment ecosystem. You will be the AP key subject matter expert in advising best practices in risk management and controls for our acquiring clients. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. What you will need: The ideal candidate is a seasoned payments acquiring risk leader (minimum 12 years) offering a unique blend of strategic leadership and hands-on problem solving in both established and dynamic, fast paced environments. This role would be perfect for someone who is focused on achieving the best outcomes for clients within global standard frameworks and policies, is unafraid to test the boundaries to evolve the programs and the attention to detail to truly understand clients risk management framework and controls in underwriting reviews. Relevant Industry Exposure Strong knowledge of payments risk management, Visa Rules, industry practices, trends and emerging threats. Hands-on operational and strategic experience of acquiring and merchant risk and fraud management, focusing on actionable results. Deep expertise in acquiring operations and risk, advising internal and external stakeholders (incl. merchants) effectively. Understanding of merchant risks from an acquirer’s perspective, bridging the gap between acquirers and their merchants. Proficient in basic data analysis, designing and monitoring metrics for data-driven decision making. Exceptional Collaboration and Communication Skills An effective communicator, comfortable facilitating meetings with clients and industry participants, in both verbal and written communication. Proactive problem-solver and selfstarter, driving initiatives from concept to implementation. Builds strong client and industry stakeholder relationships, fostering collaboration for the benefit of a broader payments ecosystem.
