The Advanced Digital Innovation Center (ADIC) at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), located in Lecce, is looking for a motivated researcher in Scientific and Parallel Computing field to join our research group. In this role he/she will contribute to the activities of porting, profiling, modernization, optimization, and parallelization of scientific codes on heterogeneous supercomputing infrastructure. To learn more about this opportunity and submit your application, please refer to the following: ROLE The Junior research associate in Scientific and Parallel Computing reports to the ADIC center and collaborate closely with the others member of the team to lead porting activity and benchmarking of numerical models and scientific applications on heterogeneous supercomputers architectures. RESPONSIBILITIES The Junior research associate in High Performance Computing will support the ADIC center, with: Assessing the parallel performance and identifying scalability bottlenecks in numerical models Evaluate the best strategies to port and optimize the scientific codes on heterogeneous supercomputers architectures continuously updating knowledge on emerging technologies and tools supporting HPC REQUIREMENTS M.Sc. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent fields; Knowledge HPC environments and architectures; Demonstrated experience with Linux environment, bash scripting and software setup & configuration; Proficiency in programming languages used in scientific computing (e.g., Fortran, C, C++, Python); Experience with parallel programming on HPC infrastructure (e.g., MPI, OpenMP); Familiarity with tools for performance analysis of parallel programs; Experience with version control system tools (e.g., Git/GitHub); Fluency in both written and spoken English; Flexibility to work on a diverse range of tasks and manage deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Experience in drafting scientific reports and technical documentation related to developed solutions. Recent graduates with a background in the listed areas are strongly encouraged to apply. DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. The Managers will be based in Lecce CMCC office. The appointment period will be initially of 12 months starting as soon as possible, with a gross annual salary range based on qualification and working experience and competitive with major research centers in Europe. Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract. Flexible working time as per internal policies.
