Data Engineer

We're Hiring: Data Engineer (Contract) | Hybrid Location: Toronto, ON Type: 6 Month Contract (with potential for extension and FTE conversion) Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days on-site/week Are you a data modeling expert with a deep understanding of enterprise-level architecture, cloud, and big data ecosystems? Join our global team at our Toronto HQ and help shape the future of our data platform! What You’ll Do: Translate business needs into scalable, high-quality data models Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to design logical and physical data models Maintain and optimize metadata, data lineage, and schema designs Reverse-engineer data models from existing databases and SQL Own data definitions, resolve integration challenges, and ensure consistency across systems Work hands-on with Hadoop (Hortonworks/Cloudera), Azure, RDBMS, and analytics platforms Ensure best practices in naming conventions and coding standards ✅ What You Bring: 5–8 years of experience in IT, with at least 4 years in data modeling Expertise in big data ecosystems, especially Hadoop (Cloudera/Hortonworks) Hands-on with Power Designer or Erwin Experience with Azure cloud data solutions Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills Background in BI, analytics, and data warehousing Familiarity with Capital Markets or Wealth Management is a plus Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
