Job Description
Job Description As a Drives Manufacturing Engineer, your role would focus on designing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production. They work closely with design, production, and quality teams to enhance product manufacturability, streamline workflows, and implement automation where necessary. The individual is responsible for: Supporting Design Review from Manufacturing perspective. Reviewing and Approving engineering drawings before production. Process development for electronic assemblies, PCBs and components. Optimization by lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Production support and troubleshooting by identifying production issues and working with operators and technicians to improve workflow and minimize downtime. Select, install and maintain manufacturing equipment such as SMT (surface mount technology), wave soldering and automated testing machines. Implement robotics and automation to streamline production. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IPC standards, 5S and safety regulations. Collaborate with R&D and design engineers to optimize PCB layouts and component placement for manufacturability. Develop and implement test procedures (ICT, functional testing, and reliability testing). Optimize material usage and minimize costs through process improvements. Document and report process and KPIs. Technical Attributes and Experience Experience in materials management, procurement, or inventory control. Proficiency in PLM Tools Knowledge of ECAD tools (Altium) and PCB Production files Knowledge of CAD (Creo preferrable) and how to design/review jigst/tools for manufacturing GD&T and tolerance stacking PFMEA EPPAP Design For Manufacturability for Electronics (DFM) Knowledge of production of electronics Production IPC Class 3 PCBs Production of baseboards – Laminates, stickup reviews, etc. Components pick-place and assembly traceability processes SMT process J STD 001, specially with BGAs THT Process, wave solder, selective solder Conformal Coating, Staking, underfill Leaded vs. Lead-Free process impacts Sintering Inspection AOI, Soder Inspection Xray, 3D Xray IPC A 610 inspection quality criteria Experience on Production Planning (Production Flow) and Assembly Line Planning Knowledge of Box-Build processes (Electronic Assemblies) FA (design for assembly) process Knowledge of Design of Acceptance Tests Procedure (ATP) Tools (automated test equipment) ATP Commissioning (End-of-Line tests) Design for testability Management of Electronic Components (BOM review), Obsolescence, alternate parts, etc, Change Notices, Change orders, etc. Storage and Handling rules of electronic parts (humidity, ESD, etc) Quality Criteria AS9100 Basic knowledge of mechanical parts production used in electronic assemblies (suppliers manufacturing processes review) Machining, die-cast, cold forge Injection Molding and transfer molding processes Laser Welding Advantage – worked in production of inverters or other power electronic components (DC/DCs, Chargers, etc.) in aerospace, automotive or railway industries. PREFERRED: Experience with EV Traction Inverters Knowledge of ARP4754A and DO-254 processes, ARP 4761, DO-160 test methods Experience with Altium, Spice, MATLAB, Simulink Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level) Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, electronic engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a similar role position. Preferably specialized in electric motor manufacturing, automotive or aerospace applications. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple engineering projects from initiation to completion. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and in team settings. Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits and signal integrity. Experience in process optimization, automation, and production management. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing software (ERP/MRP systems). Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), FMEA, and root cause analysis. Strong understanding of materials, machining, welding, and assembly processes. Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement techniques.
