Position Overview The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is the first line of defense for incoming materials and purchased parts used in our stamping and molding operations. Acting as the key liaison between ENNOVI and its external supply base, the SQE drives systemic quality improvements, reduces supplier defects, and safeguards production continuity. The role blends technical depth in metal-forming and polymer processes with strong problem-solving and supplier–relationship skills to ensure every component meets—or exceeds—customer, internal, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Supplier Evaluation & Selection Lead cross-functional assessments of new or transferred suppliers, verifying capability, capacity, process controls, and compliance with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3/6.5, and ENNOVI standards. Issue technical feasibility opinions and risk ratings to Sourcing. Quality Audits & Surveillance Plan and execute process audits (IATF 16949 clause 8.4, VDA 6.3 P2–P7) and layered process audits. Track audit findings to closure, guaranteeing robust containment, corrective, and preventive actions. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Facilitate APQP milestones—DFMEA‐to‐PFMEA linkage, process flow, control plans—for new tooling, die changes, and mold qualifications. Approve PPAP submissions (Levels 1–5), including dimensional/layout studies, capability studies (Cpk/Ppk), MSA, and run-at-rate validations. Problem-Solving & Escalation Management Lead 8D investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone, and IS/IS-NOT techniques to identify root cause and permanently eliminate supplier escapes. Drive interim containment and validate effectiveness of corrective actions (CAPA). Supplier Development Mentor suppliers on statistical process control (SPC), poka-yoke, error-proofing, and lean manufacturing principles. Implement continuous-improvement roadmaps, tracking PPM, OEE, and cost-of-poor-quality (COPQ) reductions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Interface daily with Operations, Engineering, Logistics, and Customer Quality to communicate risk, status, and recovery plans. Represent Supplier Quality in launch readiness reviews, change-control boards, and customer escalations. Data & Reporting Maintain supplier scorecards, trend performance, and prepare monthly QBR packages for leadership and key customers. Minimum Qualifications Education – bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering (or related discipline). Experience – 3 years in automotive supplier or manufacturing quality; direct exposure to metal stamping and/or plastic injection molding processes. Standards & Methods Working knowledge of VDA 6.5 product audit methodology. Proficient with the AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA. Skilled in the Seven QC Tools, 8D, QCC, and Mistake-Proofing. Technical Skills – GD&T interpretation, basic metrology, capability analysis (Cpk, Ppk), and Minitab or equivalent statistical software. Knowledge of ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 and sustainability audits. Certified VDA 6.3 (2023) Process Auditor or equivalent Core Competencies Analytical Rigor – Data-driven decision making; strong grasp of statistics. Influence & Negotiation – Able to challenge suppliers’ status quo while maintaining productive relationships. Sense of Urgency – Responds swiftly to quality risks that could impact line-stop, recalls, or customer claims. Communication – Crafts clear technical reports and conveys issues to shop-floor operators and C-suite executives alike. Continuous Improvement Mindset – Seeks out waste and variation, driving systemic change rather than one-off fixes. Travel Requirement Up to 30 % domestic/international travel to supplier sites and customer plants.
