What You’ll Do: As the Payroll Manager , you’ll be the cornerstone of a Payroll Operations team. You’ll lead, develop, and inspire a talented group of payroll professionals while ensuring payroll is executed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with all relevant policies, legislation, and collective agreements. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include: Leadership & Team Development Provide strategic guidance and hands-on mentorship to your payroll team. Oversee staffing plans and workflow to manage full-cycle payroll processing. Deliver coaching, performance reviews, and partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring. System Oversight & Continuous Improvement Own the payroll system (Workday) — troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing for performance. Ensure data integrity and maintain a high-functioning vendor relationship. Compliance & Controls Establish and enforce strong internal controls and audit-ready practices. Stay ahead of regulatory changes and prepare the team for seamless adoption. Reporting & Reconciliation Lead audits, quarterly and year-end reporting, and account reconciliations. Maintain confidentiality while analyzing payroll data and resolving discrepancies. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with HR and Finance to streamline processes and elevate operational efficiency. Act as a go-to resource for interpreting pay regulations and collective agreements. Safety & Culture Champion Foster a safe, supportive, and compliant workplace. Ensure training is up to date and documented, and champion safety initiatives. What You Bring to the Role: Certified Payroll Professional designation, PLP or PCP Post-secondary education in Business, HR, Finance, or a related field 5 years of experience in a large, complex payroll environment Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of 5 employees Experience with Workday is an asset Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, collective agreements, and compliance requirements Top-notch communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills Why Join Us?
