Job Description

Role Overview The Plant Performance Engineer is responsible for analysing operational data, conducting equipment performance assessments, and implementing performance improvement strategies across the plant. The role supports enhanced efficiency, reliability, and cost-effective operation of the facility by identifying trends, deviations, and opportunities for optimisation. This is a technically focused position requiring deep analytical capability, strong problem-solving skills, and a sound understanding of power plant systems. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of influencing performance across multiple functions. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute strategies to optimise plant and system performance, production, and efficiency. Conduct performance tests and analyse data to assess equipment effectiveness. Generate reports on operational trends, performance deviations, and areas for improvement. Ensure accuracy and validity of all instrumentation and input data used in performance analysis. Review and enhance design processes; report any deficiencies impacting operational performance. Develop operational procedures and control logic to optimise plant operations. Monitor and forecast daily production outputs and ensure forecast accuracy. Investigate performance-related incidents and breakdowns; assign cost implications appropriately. Evaluate plant models provided by external stakeholders and identify critical performance risks. Implement standardised testing for steam, water, fuel, and by-products, reporting on variances. Ensure compliance with waste management protocols and environmental standards. Continuously identify performance improvements and monitor progress against energy and output KPIs. Requirements BTech or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Project Management qualification or certification. GCC Factories (advantageous). Minimum of 6 years experience in a plant performance engineering role within a power plant or utilities environment. Key Attributes and Competencies Solid understanding of DCS, CMMS, and power plant operations. Strong grasp of SHERQ management systems and regulatory frameworks. Analytical skills with high numeric reasoning ability and attention to detail. Organised and efficient, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Skilled in risk assessments, auditing, and project management principles. Effective communicator with strong leadership, facilitation, and report-writing capabilities. Team player with coaching, mentoring, and motivational skills. Professional, self-motivated, and safety-oriented. Able to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations with a proactive mindset.
