Post-Doc Researcher in omics data analysis and Therapeutic Target Identification

Short description of the position/project: The Institute for Biomedicine, located at Bolzano's NOI Techpark, is a key component of Eurac Research, dedicated to improving health through precision prevention research. This interdisciplinary effort seeks to predict, slow or preempt illness progression by understanding genetic, biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Utilizing a decade-long population study, the CHRIS study, in collaboration with the South Tyrolean Healthcare Service, the institute offers access to extensive data and biological materials suitable for such research. With a focus on neurological, cardiovascular, and metabolic health, the team employs state-of-the-art labs and innovative data science to span the full translational research cycle, from data generation to potential clinical application. The successful candidate will analyze large in-house genomics and proteomics datasets, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets for precision prevention applications and/or as potential drug targets. Additionally, the researcher will be responsible for developing, extending, and implementing robust computational pipelines that incorporate advanced AI technologies to accelerate therapeutic target discovery. These targets will be further investigated internally or in collaboration with our partners. Tasks: ·Prepare data, conduct GWAS and WES association analyses with a special focus on proteomics. ·Define and support the integration of analysis workflows considering the multi-omics data available in CHRIS. ·Implement novel algorithms and/or workflows to support integrative data models and to accelerate therapeutic target identification. ·Evaluate the developed software platform by analyzing case studies. ·Coordinate analyses and collaborate with project partner. ·Dissemination of scientific results through conference contributions and scientific publications. Requirements: ·PhD in a relevant field of research (Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Computational Biology). ·Experience in large-scale data handling and processing, including statistical data analysis and machine learning. ·Experience with R and/or Python, and/or software development using Nextflow in a Linux environment. ·Experience analyzing data and deploying applications on High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. ·Experience in omics data analysis, experience in genome-wide association studies and/or proteomics data analysis is preferred. ·Experience with the application of state-of-the-art AI technologies. ·Proactivity and the ability to solve problems independently. ·Ability to work in a distributed, multidisciplinary research environment. ·Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. ·Experience in drug target identification is a plus We offer: ·Access to unique health and omics data from the CHRIS population study. ·Collaboration with multidisciplinary international scientists. ·A cooperative environment at NOI Techpark, South Tyrol’s innovation hub. ·Attractive living and working conditions. ·Support for career development. ·Salary proportional to experience. ·A two-year contract.
