CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE LEAD Position Summary: The Customs Compliance Manager will lead and manage all customs and trade compliance activities for Gentherm. This role ensures adherence to local and international customs regulations, promotes operational excellence, and minimizes risks associated with global trade activities. The Customs Compliance Manager will also develop and implement customs compliance programs, working closely with internal stakeholders, customs authorities, and external brokers. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs compliance, import/export operations, or trade compliance within a manufacturing environment (automotive industry experience is highly preferred). In-depth knowledge of local and international customs regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, and origin rules. Proven experience managing customs brokers and working with governmental authorities. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in customs management software and tools (SAP GTS or similar is a plus). English fluency is required. Key Responsibilities: Ensure full compliance with all applicable customs laws, regulations, and corporate policies. Lead and oversee import/export processes, customs documentation, and product classification activities. Manage and maintain the company’s customs compliance program, including internal controls and periodic audits. Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and governmental agencies to facilitate efficient and compliant movement of goods. Analyze and interpret trade agreements and customs regulations to identify opportunities for duty savings and cost reductions. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs compliance topics. Act as the main point of contact with customs authorities during audits and investigations. Monitor changes in customs and trade compliance laws and ensure timely implementation of necessary updates to company processes. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and other departments to support cross-functional initiatives related to trade compliance. Develop and maintain metrics to track and report customs compliance performance.
