Test Engineer

Job Title: Chaos Test Engineer Location: Strasbourg, France Contract Type: Initial 12 month freelance contract extensions Daily Rate: €450 About the Role Consol Partners are looking for a Chaos Test Engineer with deep expertise in Chaos Engineering to join their client's dynamic team. This role involves designing and executing experiments on distributed systems to uncover weaknesses, enhance resilience, and ensure system reliability under adverse conditions. You will play a critical role in helping them build robust systems that gracefully handle unexpected disruptions. Key Responsibilities Design Chaos Experiments: Plan and structure controlled experiments simulating failures like service outages, latency spikes, and packet loss. Execute Experiments: Run experiments in test environments or controlled production settings to evaluate system response. Monitor & Analyze: Closely observe system behavior during disruptions and analyze outcomes to uncover failure points. Document & Report: Create detailed documentation of experiments, outcomes, and improvement recommendations. Automate Processes: Develop tools and scripts to automate the chaos testing lifecycle. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work alongside development, operations, and security teams to apply insights and strengthen system resilience. Key Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of distributed systems and their failure modes. Proficiency in Python, Go , or other scripting/programming languages. Hands-on experience with Chaos Engineering tools such as Chaos Monkey, Gremlin, Litmus, etc. Solid skills in data analysis and drawing actionable insights from test results. Excellent communication skills to share findings across technical and non-technical teams. A proactive and analytical problem-solver with a passion for system reliability.
