This Head of Department position is responsible for setting up and driving the usage of advanced analytics, data science, and machine learning to resolve real-life industrial problems and deploy solutions in production environments in Singapore, Korea, and globally. The initial focus is manufacturing, with potential expansion to the entire end-to-end value chain. The Chief Data Scientist also represents HMGICS CIO at Hyundai Motor Group HQ's global AI/ML committee, aligning development and promoting AI adoption at the group level. What To Expect HMGICS seeks a Chief Data Scientist experienced in building and leading teams to solve industrial problems using data science, AI/ML, and Generative AI. Candidates should have expertise in Data Analytics, Optimization, AI/ML, or LLMs, and interest in logistics, supply chain, assembly, quality, maintenance, or enterprise functions. Responsibilities include: Leading a team of data scientists to address complex industrial challenges. Collaborating with the CIO to deploy data science solutions across departments. Standardizing data and MLOps platforms for global use. Managing projects from inception to deployment. Representing the CIO in global AI/ML initiatives and aligning R&D activities. What You'll Bring Master’s or PhD in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. Minimum 8 years leading data science projects in industrial settings. Preferred experience in manufacturing or automotive industries. Proven success in implementing scalable AI projects, including Generative AI and LLMs. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Ability to influence cross-disciplinary teams and drive organizational change. Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and ethical considerations. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
