Job Description
Solar Technical Lead Location: Kent (Hybrid - Office/Site/Home) Salary: £40,000-£50,000 DOE Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time Are you an experienced solar PV designer looking for more autonomy, variety, and the chance to lead from the front? We're working with a long-established renewable energy company that delivers high-quality solar installations across the South East. As they continue to grow, they're looking for a Solar Technical Lead - someone who knows solar PV inside out and wants a role where their input genuinely shapes project outcomes. Why This Role Could Be Right for You: Autonomy & Ownership - You'll take the lead on designs, own your projects from start to finish, and be trusted for your technical judgement. Variety in the Day-to-Day - No two projects are the same. You'll work across domestic and light commercial installs, including battery and EV systems, with a balance of office-based design and occasional site visits. Genuine Impact - Your work helps homeowners and businesses reduce carbon emissions and cut energy bills. It's a role with technical depth and real-world purpose. Supportive Environment - Join a close-knit, experienced team that values quality over volume. Your ideas and input will be respected and encouraged. Hybrid Working - Flexibility to work from home part of the week, with office and site time as needed. Tools, training, and clear progression routes are provided. What You'll Be Doing: Designing solar PV systems (inc. battery storage and EV) using tools like PV*SOL and AutoCAD. Carrying out desktop and on-site surveys to inform accurate, efficient system designs. Liaising with sales, operations and installation teams to ensure smooth project delivery. Producing layout drawings, schematics, and compliance documentation (MCS, DNO/G98/G99). Staying up to date on technical standards and renewable tech innovations. What We're Looking For: Solid experience in designing solar PV systems (domestic and/or commercial). Confident with relevant design software (e.g. PV*SOL, SketchUp, AutoCAD). Working knowledge of UK grid connection processes and MCS standards. Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering well-thought-out designs. Electrical background or on-site experience is beneficial but not essential. A full UK driving licence is required for site travel. If you're looking for more responsibility, more flexibility, and more impact - this could be your next step. Apply today or get in touch for a confidential chat. ADZN1_UKTJ
