Construction Insurance Lawyer

About the Role: We are looking to recruit an experienced Insurance Lawyer with a focus on Construction to join a leading firm in Bristol . This role will involve advising and representing insurers, construction professionals, and corporate clients on a wide range of liability issues arising from construction and engineering projects. You will manage complex and high-value professional indemnity claims, policy coverage matters, and liability disputes involving contractors, architects, engineers, and design consultants. The role offers a broad mix of pre-action advisory work, dispute resolution, and court proceedings. Key Responsibilities: Advising on and managing claims involving construction professionals, including allegations of negligence, design defects, and contract breaches. Acting for major insurers, insured parties, and self-insured companies in defending liability claims. Reviewing and advising on insurance policy coverage, exclusions, and indemnity issues. Managing a caseload of contentious matters including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and other forms of ADR. Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements. Conducting settlement negotiations and mediations. Liaising with clients, experts, counsel, and loss adjusters. Supporting business development and contributing to team knowledge and training initiatives. Requirements: Essential: UK-qualified Solicitor (1-5 PQE, but all levels considered). Strong experience in construction-related disputes and liability claims. Sound knowledge of relevant insurance frameworks, particularly professional indemnity. Track record of managing litigation or arbitration proceedings independently or with supervision. Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
