Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Pensions Technical Manager to join an established In house Pension team based in the North West. This is a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality pension services to a range of stakeholders including pension fund trustees, corporate teams, and members of the firms Pension Fund. About the Role As Pensions Technical Manager , you will take the lead on maintaining compliance with statutory pension regulations and scheme rules, manage technical tools and procedures, drive key projects, and support both Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) arrangements. Reporting to the Corporate Actuary & Pensions Manager, you’ll collaborate with a wide network of internal and external partners, including trustees, finance, HR, actuarial advisers, and our outsourced DC provider. ✅ Key Responsibilities Ensure procedures and tools meet statutory, regulatory, and scheme-specific requirements. Oversee and maintain member communications and help improve user experience. Become a lead user of Compendia pensions administration software. Manage and deliver major pension change projects. Develop and deliver technical training and tools for the administration team. Review complex calculations and advise on rule interpretation. Provide corporate pensions support for wider business activity, including M&A. What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience Degree-level education with a strong academic background. Fully or nearly qualified in PMI, Actuarial, or equivalent pensions qualification. 5 years’ experience in pensions (in-house, third-party administration, or consultancy). Strong understanding of both DB and DC pensions. Experience working with pension software – ideally Compendia . Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word. Skills & Attributes High attention to detail and analytical thinking. Strong understanding of pensions legislation and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects. Self-starter, collaborative and team-oriented. What’s in it for you?
