We’re hiring for an AI start-up based in Cambridge that is transforming how hospitals and healthcare facilities manage complex operations and regulatory requirements. As an early-stage company tackling real-world challenges in the NHS and beyond, they’re looking for a Software Engineer with previous start-up experience who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys taking ownership, and is passionate about creating impactful AI solutions. This is a foundational hire , giving you the opportunity to shape their product, technical team, and engineering culture from the ground up. What You'll Do: Design and build scalable, end-to-end solutions for their AI-driven platform, taking features from concept to production. Lead backend development with FastAPI and Python, focusing on performance and scalability. Implement DevOps best practices , managing deployments on Azure, maintaining CI/CD workflows, and ensuring high system reliability. Architect robust data solutions using PostgreSQL, optimising for performance, security, and integrity. Influence product direction , working closely with the founding team to ensure their platform evolves in line with user needs and technical best practices. What You’ll Bring: 3 years of software development experience, with a strong focus on Python for backend services Proven experience working in a start-up environment, comfortable with fast-paced decision-making and evolving technical roadmaps. Backend: Proficiency in RESTful API design, and Python. Database: Experience designing and optimising schemas in PostgreSQL. Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git/GitHub), and containerisation. A self-starter mindset, comfortable making architectural decisions and taking ownership of projects in a dynamic environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
