Job Description
Financial Accountant required to join the finance team of a Manufacturer based at their site in Bodmin. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will be integral to preparing and overseeing financial reporting for the business, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and company policies. This role encompasses managing key financial processes, maintaining internal controls, and providing valuable financial insights to senior management. Key Responsibilities: The Financial Accountant will support or take ownership of the following tasks, along with any additional duties as required: Take ownership of the preparation and monitoring of financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Manage the month-end and year-end activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements. Generate financial insights and provide recommendations to inform decisions made by senior leadership. Oversee the consolidation of financial statements for group reporting purposes. Cash flow forecasting and management activities to optimise the companys liquidity position. Ensure accurate general ledger postings. Support the audit process through effective liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies. Lead and mentor a small team of financial professionals, supporting their ongoing development. Drive data driven decision making by integrating BI tools into daily financial processes. Contribute to initiatives focused on improving processes to enhance the efficiency of accounting operations. Essential Experience, Qualifications and Candidate Attributes Required: Experience in financial reporting and control. Previous experience in a financial accounting role. A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified. Understanding of relevant accounting frameworks (UK GAAP/IFRS) Experience with group consolidations or reporting across multiple entities. Familiarity with SAP financial modules and reporting capabilities is advantageous. Confident using and interpreting reports from BI systems (Power BI and Tableau) Previous experience in managing and mentoring finance team members. Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with various departments and senior stakeholders. This is a permanent opportunity working Monday to Friday with a salary of between £40k to £45k depending on experience. Hybrid opportunities are available with this position.
