Managing Director – Precision Engineering Birmingham (with occasional UK travel) | £80,000 Car Benefits Potential Equity Are you an experienced leader with a strong background in precision engineering and a passion for driving business growth? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and respected manufacturer at a key stage in its development. Specialising in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), including spark and wire erosion, the company supplies high-precision, complex components to sectors such as aerospace, oil & gas, and defence. With a solid foundation already in place, we are looking for a Managing Director who can help shape and deliver the next phase of the company's growth. The Role Based primarily in Birmingham and overseeing one additional site, you will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the business. Working closely with the senior leadership team, your focus will be on identifying new commercial opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring continued operational and financial performance. Key Responsibilities: Develop and lead the business strategy in line with growth ambitions Oversee daily operations across the company, ensuring efficiency and quality Drive commercial development using your technical knowledge and market insight Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team Ensure robust financial controls and sustainable profitability What We're Looking For We're keen to hear from commercially minded individuals with a strong technical background in EDM processes—particularly spark and wire erosion—and a proven track record in precision engineering. A background in Technical Sales or General Management would be especially beneficial. Candidate Requirements: Significant senior leadership experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment In-depth technical knowledge of EDM, spark erosion, and wire erosion Demonstrable success in business development and team leadership Strong commercial and client-facing skills Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and driving profitability Knowledge of industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap is advantageous What's on Offer £80,000 per annum Company car 5 weeks' annual leave Pension scheme Potential equity for the right candidate This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and commercially astute leader to make a lasting impact within a respected, high-precision engineering business.
